Jog for the Jake
The Jog for The Jake, a 5K road race and Kid's Fun Run, was established in 2002 in memory of Dr. Lawrence D. Jacobs, Buffalo's world-renowned Multiple Sclerosis (MS) physician and researcher.
The purpose of the race is to celebrate Dr. Jacobs' life through a special, fitness-oriented event, designed for the whole family. Last year the race attracted over 1,200 runners, walkers and Kids Fun Run participants.
Over the past eight years, the Jog for The Jake has raised over $800,000 for The Jacobs Neurological Institute to be used for neurological research. Western New York has a higher incidence of Alzheimer's, Epilepsy, Parkinson's, and Multiple Sclerosis than most parts of the United States. For the health of our community we need to continue research of these diseases. We would like to thank the community for its continued dedication, and the generous support of our sponsors and partners, who that help make this race a Buffalo tradition.
Proceeds
All proceeds from the race stay right here in Buffalo, and benefit The Jacobs Neurological Institute, a neurological center of excellence, with advanced research and patient programs.
Special thanks
The Jog for The Jake Team would like to express a very special thank you to Katie Schneider for taking all of the wonderful photographs used throughout this site.
